Gas laws connect pressure, volume, temperature and amount of substance. The ideal-gas equation PV = nRT is a powerful model whose accuracy depends on conditions. Real gases approach ideal behaviour most closely when intermolecular effects and molecular volume are relatively unimportant. Pressure measures normal force per unit area. In a fluid at rest, pressure changes with depth because the fluid above has weight. This explains why pressure is not simply 'a force': the same force distributed over a different area produces a different pressure. Temperature characterizes thermal state and is linked statistically to microscopic behaviour; heat is energy transferred because of a temperature difference. Confusing heat with temperature hides the physics of calorimetry, phase changes and thermal transport.
