de Broglie wavelength

Matter has wave-like behaviour. For a particle with momentum p, the de Broglie wavelength is λ = h/p. The relation becomes especially important for electrons and other microscopic particles, where wavelengths can be comparable with atomic dimensions and diffraction becomes observable.
