Two worked examples

Example 1

A 1,500 kg car moving at 20 m/s has 300 kJ of kinetic energy. Doubling the speed to 40 m/s multiplies that energy by four, to 1.2 MJ.

Example 2

For a 0.145 kg baseball at 40 m/s, KE = ½ × 0.145 × 40² = 116 J. The calculator can also reverse the relation to find the speed from a measured energy.
